SPF, which is an abbreviation for Sender Policy Framework, is an authentication system that aims at protecting against the so-called email counterfeiting. In simple terms, this means sending some message from one email address and making it appear to be sent from another with the objective to scam in some way the individual receiving it. If the SPF protection is active for a domain name, a record which has all mail servers authorized to email messages with addresses in the domain is made. The record is placed on all DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic internationally, so that they all will recognize whether an email message comes from a valid server or not. The check is performed at the very first server where the email goes through and in the first case the e-mail message is forwarded, but in the second one it's removed and it never gets to its intended recipient. Using SPF records for your domains will prevent any unwanted people from making use of your emails for malicious objectives.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for each domain hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with just a few clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our hi-tech Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to use it is to choose one of your domain names from a drop-down menu and to type in the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers which will be authorized to send emails from your email addresses. As an added option you can also restrict the messages to be sent from your domain only if it includes our MX records, in other words if our servers handle the email addresses for it, not some third-party supplier. This solution will provide you with the highest standard of safety, but it is not applicable if only your site is on our servers while the email addresses for the domain are handled in another place. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses protected from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia website hosting Control Panel, that comes with all of our semi-dedicated plans, provides you with a very easy-to-use interface to enable the SPF security service for every domain name that you host in your new account. Several clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia will be enough for that then you'll only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server which will be allowed to send out messages from your emails. If the e-mail messages are taken care of on our end and not by some other supplier, you can boost the protection level even further and take advantage of an option for all the outgoing e-mails to be sent only if your domain names feature our MX records. This option provides you with better control and it'll eliminate any possibility of anybody forging your e-mail addresses with the intention of spamming and / or scamming people. It is not applicable if just your website is hosted on our modern cloud website hosting platform, while your email addresses are managed by some other provider. If you aren't sure what options to select, our tech support staff will help you 24/7.
